This session will explore how India’s eastern states can play a pivotal role in the evolving supply chains of the Indo-Pacific. With a focus on port modernisation, trade corridors, and multilateral frameworks like BIMSTEC and IORA, the discussion will examine how the Purvodaya region can evolve from a transit zone into a strategic hub for logistics and trade.
The session focuses on India's evolving influence in the Indo-Pacific region, emphasising the importance of strategic undersea surveys and hydrography beyond traditional military capabilities.
Blue economy and maritime cooperation are among the key areas of partnership between India and ASEAN. This session will deliberate on shared experiences and learnings on sustainable ocean management, marine resources, infrastructure, combating marine debris, and impact of climate change on oceans.
This session can look at how India's geostrategy in the Bay of Bengal can anchor plurilateral efforts to build flexible and resilient supply chains. (Eg. Quad plus engagements like Supply Chain Resilience Initiative (SCRI), IPEF, Mekong–Ganga Cooperation (MGC), Indo-Pacific Oceans' Initiative (IPOI), ASEAN Plus engagement and BIMSTEC etc).
